Penngrove Elementary School Plan for Student Achievement 2026-27
Penngrove School SPSAEach year, our School Site Council, made up of parents and staff, reviews our data and sets goals for the year ahead. Here are the highlights of Penngrove's plan for this school year.
Reading and writing for all students: Our goal is to move Penngrove's English language arts results from just below the state standard to above it by June 2027. Students in grades 1-3 participate in Walk to Read, where they are grouped by reading level for part of the day. Students in grades 4-6 get targeted reading intervention blocks. Every 6-8 weeks, teachers review reading data together and adjust instruction, using programs such as Lexia, Wonders, and mCLASS.
Students with disabilities: We aim to raise English language arts scores by at least 9 points. Students receive small-group instruction in our Learning Center, using structured literacy approaches such as Orton-Gillingham and Heggerty. Our PTA is funding teacher training on differentiation and inclusive practices.
A positive school culture: We want every student to feel good about coming to school. Classrooms use social-emotional lessons (Toolbox, Zones of Regulation, Kimochis), class circles, and restorative practices. Staff consistently reinforce Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and are completing Welcoming Schools training. This year we're adding more support for students who need it. We're also working to keep lowering chronic absenteeism and suspensions.
The School Site Council approved the plan on April 21, 2026, and the Board of Education approved it on May 12, 2026.
