Mary Collins Charter School at Cherry Valley: School Accountability Report Card (2024-25)

Mary Collins at Cherry Valley School SARC

Each year, every California public school publishes a School Accountability Report Card (SARC) so families can see how the school is doing. Here are some highlights from Mary Collins's most recent report.

Strong academic results: In 2024-25, 60% of students met or exceeded state standards in English language arts and 50% in math. Science results rose from 51% to 54%. On all three tests, Mary Collins students scored above both the district and state averages.

Learning through the arts and the outdoors: Mary Collins organizes learning around two hubs, visual and performing arts and environmental education, through project-based learning across subjects. Students in TK-5 take district art and dance classes. The whole school stages a schoolwide musical, and students learn in the school garden. Every student has their own copy of the core textbooks and instructional materials.

An exemplary campus: The school's facilities earned the state's highest overall rating, Exemplary, in the most recent inspection (December 2025).

Safe and supportive: Mary Collins had no expulsions, and its 2.0% suspension rate was below the district and state rates. The school's safety plan is reviewed each year by a Safe School Committee of staff, parents, students, and a local emergency responder. Social-emotional learning is part of daily classroom life, supported by teachers, student advisors, and counseling staff.

A community that makes it possible: Families power much of what makes Mary Collins unique.

  • Mary Collins Charter Fund: pays for a social-emotional counselor, garden coordinators, a middle school music teacher, an advanced math teacher, PE, and the theater program.
  • PTA: supports the garden, the Mentor Reading program, assemblies, field trip and after-school scholarships, and classroom supplies through the Cherry Jubilee and other fundraisers.
  • Friends of Cherry Valley Library: helps fund the librarian and all library books.
  • Advisory Council and TIDE: families serve on the Advisory Council, which guides the charter, and on the Team for Inclusivity, Diversity and Equity.

Where we're focused: About 14% of students were chronically absent in 2024-25, meaning they missed 10% or more of the school year. Our goal is to bring that below 10%.
