School Accountability Report Card (SARC)

Kenilworth Junior High School Accountability Report Card (2024-25)

KJHS School SARC

Each year, every California public school publishes a School Accountability Report Card (SARC) so families can see how the school is doing. Here are some highlights from Kenilworth's most recent report.

Academic results: In 2024-25, 51% of Kenilworth students met or exceeded state standards in English language arts and 40% in math. Both were up slightly from the year before and above the state average. In science, 29% of 8th graders met or exceeded standards. Raising achievement for every student group is the focus of our School Plan for Student Achievement.

Support for every learner: Kenilworth's block schedule makes room for a range of supports and challenges:

  • co-taught English and math classes
  • study skills courses and specialized English learner classes
  • a Special Day Class
  • accelerated math and English

After school, students can get help at Homework Club. Every student is issued a Chromebook and has their own copy of the core textbooks and instructional materials. Students also run KTV, a television station that produces daily newscasts.

An exemplary campus: Kenilworth's facilities earned the state's highest overall rating, Exemplary, in the most recent inspection (December 2025).

Safety, inside and out: Kenilworth had no expulsions. Its suspension rate was 3.2%, slightly above the district and state rates (2.9%). Students practice fire, earthquake, secure-campus, and lockdown drills, and all students and staff members are trained in hands-only CPR. Life skills lessons built around Kenilworth CARES (Creativity, Accountability, Respect, Empathy, Success) cover emotional safety too, including cyber safety, respect, and healthy choices.

Ways for families to get involved: Families can join the PTSA, School Site Council, ELAC, or Music Boosters. They can also volunteer at school events, in the library, or as field trip chaperones; help with the Pledge-a-Thon and 8th-grade promotion; or attend parent education nights.
