I come to Petaluma City Schools with thirteen years of experience in education.  I started out as a Spanish Teacher in New Jersey, where I worked for eleven years. Starting at middle school level, I served as a department leader and our school’s co-leader for a research-based initiative between NJPBIS and Rutgers Inclusive School Climate Initiative. I then moved to a junior/senior high school, where I spearheaded a Parent ESL evening course and other community outreach initiatives. My family and I moved to the Bay Area in 2022. I worked at Technology High in Rohnert Park as a Spanish teacher and half-time Assistant Principal. There, I lead multiple school safety and climate initiatives such as PBIS, School Safety Team, Safe School Ambassadors, and staff development.

I have been married for 10 years and we have a wonderful 3-year-old daughter, who keeps us very engaged. We still have some family on the East Coast, but we moved here to be closer to my brothers in the Bay Area. At home, we try to instill in our daughter family-oriented values and an emphasis on learning, kindness, and curiosity for our Persian culture. I am a strong advocate for public education, having gone through a robust public ed pathway, including three degrees from Rutgers University and a variety of work & study abroad experiences in Spain, Perú and Argentina.

I’m so happy to finally call Petaluma home! I’m excited about getting to know the Petaluma High community of students, families, and new colleagues. I am eager to contribute to the collective experience of being at Petaluma High and helping improve that experience for everyone.
