The goal of history/social studies is to develop confident learners with the ability to think creatively, evaluate ideas, and make informed decisions. Students are encouraged to understand the interrelationship of past, present, and future.
Seventh-grade history and geography includes the fall of Rome, the growth of Islam, medieval societies of Europe, Europe during the Renaissance and Reformation, the Inca, Aztec and Mayan civilizations, the kingdoms of medieval West Africa, medieval China and medieval Japan.
Eighth-grade history covers "the ideas, issues, and events from the framing of the Constitution up to World War I, with an emphasis on America’s role in the war." (CA Dept of Education Standards)
