7th grade science covers key concepts in chemistry, ecology, earth science, engineering, and human impact on the environment. 8th grade science covers key concepts in physics, biological evolution, astronomy, engineering and human impact on the world. Our focus is on using real world contexts to introduce students to key concepts in science. We complete case studies, carry out student-designed experiments, apply our knowledge to real world problems, and use engineering and technology to design possible solutions. Students will be developing and using models, planning and conducting investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, using mathematical and computational thinking, and constructing explanations; to use these practices to demonstrate understanding of the core ideas. As part of the Human Interaction (HI) District curriculum requirement, the components of growth cycle, body, sexuality, disease prevention, and healthy relationships will be incorporated in the appropriate science topics.
