In 7th Grade Math our instructional time will focus on four critical areas: 1) developing understanding of proportional relationships; 2) developing understanding of operations with integers and working with algebraic expressions and linear equations; 3) solving problems involving scale drawings, using geometric constructions, and solving problems on area, surface area, and volume; and 4) learning to use samples to draw inferences. Using the CPM program Core Connections, Course 2 students will work individually, with a partner, and in teams, using models and methods that will cause them to think, investigate and solve problems. Learning to think and communicate in this way will help in math classes to follow, as well as in other subjects and in everyday life.
