Test for Alert Modal

Valley Vista Public Waldorf School was born from seventy years of Valley Vista Elementary School community excellence and Waldorf principles and practices, which have been carried forward for twenty-four years by Live Oak Charter School. This union is further vitalized by the arrival of 150 students from the Petaluma region seeking a Waldorf education. Our TK–8 program brings together the best of both legacies: a deep commitment to whole-child education, academic excellence, and community connection.

At Valley Vista Public Waldorf School, we educate the head, heart, and hands — integrating rigorous academics with the arts, movement, and social-emotional learning. Our public Waldorf model is rooted in the belief that learning should be joyful, meaningful, and developmentally aligned.

Welcome from Principal Kat McFee

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to Valley Vista Public Waldorf School! We are honored to be serving the students and families of the Petaluma region as the newest elementary school in PCS. All aspects of our TK-8 program are founded on a modern understanding of child development that meets the holistic needs of these children, in this time, in this place.

The intellectual, physical, emotional, social, cultural, moral, and spiritual facets of our students are central considerations in designing and delivering lessons, as well as in celebrating events and festivals. Our curriculum strengthens the thinking (academic), feeling (social emotional), and willing (self-efficacy) of our students—while cultivating a lifelong interest in the world. When self-awareness and competence unite with a sense of justice, intentions for social change transform into realities.

Equitable access is foundational in our TK-8 educational experience. This is realized through healthy relationships and culturally relevant practices. We believe that all students have the right to a Waldorf education that cultivates a young human being’s inherent sense of truth, beauty, and goodness. We welcome our students’ gifts and creative potential into the Valley Vista Public Waldorf School TK-8 journey.

Warmly,
Kat McFee
Principal, Valley Vista Public Waldorf

One School, Two Legacies, Infinite Possibilities

A Legacy of Learning, A Future of Possibility

We carry forward Live Oak Charter’s rich Waldorf tradition while honoring Valley Vista Elementary’s long history as a neighborhood school—grounded in care, inclusivity, and community spirit. Together, we’ve created a new home for inspired learning that reflects the diversity and creativity of Petaluma and beyond.

Whole-Child Education in a Public School Setting

At Valley Vista Public Waldorf, students explore core subjects through an interdisciplinary, arts-infused curriculum. From painting and storytelling to music, gardening, and handwork, every child is encouraged to think deeply, move purposefully, and grow compassionately.

We are a community of educators and families working together to nurture capable, curious, and connected young people — ready to thrive in school and in life.

Rooted in Community, Growing Together

Valley Vista Public Waldorf is more than a school — it's a community. We believe that learning flourishes in a nurturing environment where students are known, families are involved, and teachers are trusted to bring curriculum to life with intention and care.

Our school brings together families from across Petaluma who share a commitment to a rich, developmentally conscious education. Whether your connection began with Valley Vista Elementary, Live Oak Charter, or you're new to our community, you belong here.

Together, we’re building a school that honors the past, embraces the present, and shapes a brighter, more compassionate future.
