Parent/Guardian Involvement

Our families—past and present—are the foundation of everything we do. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, guardian, or alumni, your presence helps shape a vibrant, connected school life.

At Valley Vista Public Waldorf, our community thrives because of the time, care, and energy shared by our families. Parents, grandparents, guardians, and alumni are an essential part of our school’s rhythm and spirit.

There are many ways to get involved and stay connected:

  • Volunteer in the classroom or support teachers with projects and prep
  • Help tend the school garden or contribute to keeping our campus beautiful
  • Join a committee—whether it’s for events, enrollment, fundraising, or the school board
  • Attend Community Circles, monthly coffees, or team meetings
  • Be part of our seasonal festivals, campus celebrations, and rites of passage
  • Contribute to our giving efforts so we can continue providing high-quality materials, instruments, and arts programming for every student

Volunteer Opportunities

Parent & caregiver volunteers make a school like this run. Classroom help, as well as campus support are essential to delivering such an ambitious, whole child program as this. Below is a list of teams and committees. You can also volunteer in the office, cafeteria or for yard duty. Come to the front desk or email the secretary for more details.

Get Involved!

There are many ways for parents and guardians to get involved in our school community. We invite you to volunteer in a classroom or any of our school-wide events. We have a number of parent groups on campus that are always looking for fresh ideas and faces. We hope you will consider attending and joining the following groups:

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The PTA is an important part of our school's community. It connects parents, teachers and administrators in supporting the needs of our students and school.

School Site Council (SSC)

The SCC is comprised of the principal, staff, and family members. We discuss, improve, and approve important documents including the Safe Schools Plan and the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

Elections for members of the School Site Council are held annually. If you are interested in being a member of SSC, please contact our principal. We look forward to working with you to continue improving our school!

For more information about the purpose and functions of the School Site Council, see this resource created by the California Department of Education.

The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

ELAC is a group of parents and community members who work with the school to improve programs and services for English learners. ELAC members advise on things like curriculum, parent outreach, and attendance. Join us to advocate for your child's success!

Volunteering at Petaluma City Schools

Petaluma City Schools welcomes and values parent and community volunteers in our schools and at our school activities.  We have many opportunities for you to help our students!  If you are interested in being an athletic, classroom, field trip or parent volunteer, please contact the school you would like to support. In some cases, fingerprinting will be required.
