Live Oak's model is rooted in a developmental approach to learning that cultivates the innate capacities of each child through age-appropriate curriculum. Exploration of the natural world, culture, language, math, artistic expression, music and the scientific method enliven curiosity which is the foundation of intellectual growth, conceptual flexibility, empathy and a sense of connectedness. As our globe becomes increasingly interwoven, it is essential that our efforts help children to recognize, appreciate, and navigate the diversity of human experience and knowledge. Gender and cultural literacy, civic responsibility, and nuanced historical perspectives are emphasized throughout the curriculum. Curiosity and focused observation, critical thinking and synthesis are similarly infused.
