Valley Vista Public Waldorf School Plan for Student Achievement (2026-27)
Valley Vista Public Waldorf School SPSAEach year, our School Site Council, made up of parents and staff, reviews our data and sets goals for the year ahead. Here are the highlights of our plan for this school year.
Belonging: We want every student to have an adult at school they can talk to when they're upset or stressed. In January 2026, 35% of students said they did, and we aim for 55% by January 2027. Every class holds a community circle at least once a week, and each younger class is paired with an older buddy class. Our student advisor supports students from arrival to dismissal, including teaching recess games and helping resolve conflicts. Counseling support is available on campus.
Students with disabilities: We aim to raise reading and math scores by 30 points. Special education staff, reading specialists, and classroom teachers will have set time to plan together and co-teach. All staff will be trained in Universal Design for Learning and student accommodations, and reading and math interventions will follow district-approved, research-based programs.
Multilingual learners: Our goal is for at least half of our English learners to advance one or more levels toward English proficiency this year, with a focus on helping students who have been learning English for four or more years achieve reclassification. Every English learner gets 30 minutes of English language development each day, plus extra support from our Bilingual Resource Teacher. Staff discuss strategies for multilingual students at every staff meeting.
Equity and community: Our staff created a set of Equity Standards for how every child should experience learning at our school, including how Waldorf-inspired practices give every student a way in. Our goal is for 75% of staff to rate themselves proficient by June 2027. TK-5 classrooms teach social-emotional skills using the CASEL framework, and our middle school Social Action Committee brings student voice into school decisions. We're also strengthening ELAC, multilingual communication, and ways for families to help shape the school.
The School Site Council approved the plan on May 4, 2026, and the Board of Education approved it on May 12, 2026.
