Petaluma Junior High School Accountability Report Card (2024-25)
PJHS SARCEach year, every California public school publishes a School Accountability Report Card (SARC) so families can see how the school is doing. Here are some highlights from Petaluma Junior High's most recent report.
A big jump in reading and writing: In 2024-25, 52% of PJHS students met or exceeded state standards in English language arts, up from 42% the year before and above the state average. Math rose from 32% to 35%, and science from 23% to 25%.
Support for every learner: Students who are ready for more can take accelerated math in 7th grade, then continue with Integrated Math 1 in 8th grade, plus advanced English in both grades. Students who need extra help have several options:
Counseling and therapy services support student wellness, and every student has their own copy of the core textbooks.
An exemplary campus: PJHS earned the state's highest overall facilities rating, Exemplary, in its most recent inspection (August 2025).
A safer, calmer campus: PJHS's suspension rate dropped from 8.0% two years ago to 2.7% in 2024-25, now below both the district and state rates. There were no expulsions. Students and staff practice a different emergency drill every month, and local emergency agencies are invited to give feedback.
Ways for families to get involved: Families can join the PTSA, School Site Council, and ELAC (two ELAC parents also serve on the district committee). They can also come to monthly Coffee with the Principal, Back to School Night, and the spring Open House.
