  • The Petaluma Adult School presented a site report detailing their progress in helping students pass the HiSet exam, gain citizenship, learn English and participate in parenting classes
  • The board recognized the following students as September students of the month: Joaquin Raya - Kenilworth Junior High School, Calvin Jackson - Petaluma Junior High School, Delano Salazar - Casa Grande High School, Aimen Malik - Petaluma High School, Oliver Nakmine Hamilton - San Antonio High School
  • The Chief Business Official presented the 2025-26 Unaudited Actuals, detailing the district's financial recovery over the past year.
  • The Board reviewed the district's AI guidance framework, including the grade-span approach to AI use.
  • The Board discussed updates to public comment procedures to improve community engagement which would include moving all public comment to the beginning of the meeting

  Action Items

  • Hearing held for sufficiency of textbooks and materials and corresponding resolutions 2627-07 and 2627-08 were approved
  • Approved the 2025-26 Unaudited Actuals
  • Adopted Resolution 2627-05 establishing the district's annual GAN borrowing limit
  • Approved Board Policy 5141.5 on student mental health supports with an amendment to ensure at least 40% of classified employees can receive youth behavioral health training

  Discussion Items

  • The board discussed Resolution 2627-06 which would prohibit the future installation of wireless cell towers on district property. This item will be brought back to the next board agenda.

  Action Items

  • Adopted Resolution 2627-01 proclaiming Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15, 2026) and School Administrator Week (October 12-18, 2026)
  • Approved $360,000 in capital facility contracts, including track leveling and goalpost work at Petaluma High School and speaker installations at Casa Grande High School
  • Approved the first amendment to the agreement with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin, establishing them as the sole provider for before and after school care

  Reports & Presentations

  • Human Resources presented a strategy to strengthen and diversify the educator workforce, including expanded recruitment partnerships, job fairs beyond Sonoma County, and a career pipeline for students in the CASA careers in education pathway
  • The district provided an enrollment update showing stable enrollment over the past decade, as well a 1% increase in enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year. 
  • The Board conducted a first reading of Board Policy 5141.5 on student mental health supports, including new annual training requirements for staff serving grades 7-12
  • Board members confirmed their committee assignments for the 2026-2027 school year

  • Approved the bell schedule and instructional minutes for the 2026-2027 school year 
  • Approval of the following capital facility contracts: Valley Vista TK Project - Topographic Survey Services, Valley Vista TK Project - Geotechnical Services , PCS Performing Arts Center CEQA Proposal

  Reports & Presentations

  • Student Services provided an update on the Mobile Communication Device Policy and the roll out of the bell to bell mobile communication device ban at all PCS sites
  • The business department provided a presentation on proposition 28 funding within PCS

  The following students were sworn in as the 2026-2027 Student Board Members:

  • Ana Maria Miranda- Petaluma High School
  • Chloe Herdman- Casa Grande High School 
  • Sabrina Carte- Alternative High Schools

  In addition, Maddy Seller will serve as an alternate board member for the 2025-2026 school year.
