Casa Grande and Petaluma High offer career and technical education courses in a variety of career sectors. CTE is a program of study that involves a multiyear sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers.

What is a CTE Pathways?   A pathway is defined as a two to three-year course sequence that consists of an introduction (optional), concentrator, and capstone courses, as determined by the California Department of Education (CDE).  
What is a does it mean to be a CTE "completer"?  Students who complete a pathway are called "completers" and must earn a C- or better in each course of the pathway.  Pathway completion demonstrates a student's mastery of skills and knowledge within a particular CTE field. 

 

What does CTE include?

  • Real-world experience - CTE programs are hands-on and provide students with experience in the workplace.
  • Academic knowledge - CTE courses integrate core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge.
  • Career exploration - CTE programs allow students to explore different career fields.
  • Career readiness - CTE programs help students develop the skills and knowledge needed to transition to the workforce.
