January 2024 Countywide YouthTruth Survey Results
One of our District goals in Petaluma City Schools is to ensure that all student scholars and families are engaged in their learning community. One way we aim to do this is by amplifying our students’ voices. Student perceptions are linked to academic outcomes and, at PCS, we care deeply about our students. Knowing what our students experience at school and in the classroom provides meaningful insight that allows us, as educators, to continually improve the learning experiences we provide.
This school year, we are once again partnering with YouthTruth to administer a nationally-recognized survey used in hundreds of schools and Districts across the country, surveying hundreds of thousands of students. The survey asks students about their experiences in school, with their teachers, including how engaged they are at school, the rigor of their coursework, and their preparedness for their future. Although participation in this survey is voluntary, our goal is to hear from all students. The full survey is administered once a year, in January.
Petaluma City Schools has a local survey to give students an opportunity to give us feedback by answering a small subset of questions focused on whether students feel engaged in their learning community, whether they are feeling academically challenged in school, and whether they have a trusted adult at school they can turn to when they are having problems.
